Product Description
Slither into the extreme side of herpetology and evolutionary science! The Australian Geographic Amazing and Bizarre Lizards of the World science kit lets young biologists explore the lives of 10 of the planet's most fascinating reptiles. Packed with interactive STEM crafts, this comprehensive laboratory kit allows kids to mould, paint, and varnish a life-sized female gecko alongside her hatching eggs. From there, they will build a detailed 3D wooden model of Australia's iconic frilled-neck lizard and arrange a museum-quality display diorama. Featuring a gorgeous full-colour instruction booklet and a large educational wall poster, it turns structural adaptations and natural history into an incredible creative project.
Summary Founders take:
We absolutely love this kit because it perfectly mirrors our passion for "minds-on, hands-on" learning. Instead of just reading text from a screen, children are actively engaged in building, painting, and assembling the physical anatomy of these unique reptiles. It’s a wonderful way to introduce advanced evolutionary concepts—like how camouflage, unique structural adaptations, and specialised defence mechanisms help lizards survive in extreme environments. The combination of art, craft, and authentic scientific research makes it a spectacular display piece that young innovators can feel genuinely proud to showcase.
Who This Is For (and Who It's NOT For)
-
Great for: Budding herpetologists and wildlife lovers (ages 6+), young artists who enjoy detailed painting projects, and families looking for a comprehensive, multi-layered STEM craft activity.
-
Not ideal for: Toddlers under 3 years old due to plaster and small components, or anyone looking for a quick, 5-minute activity, as the plaster moulding and painting require structured sessions.

Brilliantly blends hands-on artistic crafting with rigorous, curriculum-aligned ecological concepts.
-
Includes high-quality materials, such as acrylic paints, a 3D wooden puzzle, and durable plaster moulds.

Cons:
-
Mixing Plaster of Paris and custom painting can be a bit messy (best completed in a protected workspace).

Usage, Care, or Compatibility Notes
When working with the Plaster of Paris, pour the water into the mixing beaker first before slowly tapping the powder in to avoid clumps and air bubbles. Let the plaster models cure completely overnight before applying your acrylic paint layers, and finish with a coat of the included varnish to give your gecko a realistic, moist reptile sheen. Lay down some old newspaper on your kitchen table or workbench before you begin to make clean-up an absolute breeze!
