Build a Spider That Scuttles Up and Down Its String — 4M KidzRobotix Spider Robot

The 4M KidzRobotix Spider Robot is a motorised string-climbing spider that you build yourself. Once assembled and hung on its string, the spider scuttles up and down vertically, automatically reversing direction when it reaches the top or bottom — just like a real spider on a silk thread. Battery-powered, no coding or app required. Ages 8+.

What Children Build and Learn

• 🔧 Mechanical assembly — build the spider body, motor housing, and string-climbing mechanism from the kit components
• ⚙️ String-climbing mechanism — understand how the motor drives the climbing action and how the robot senses the top and bottom of the string to automatically reverse direction
• 🔋 Motor and battery basics — connect the motor and battery to bring the spider to life; a practical introduction to how electrical energy creates movement

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it walk on the floor or climb a string?

It climbs a string — the Spider Robot hangs vertically on its string and scuttles up and down, reversing direction automatically at the top and bottom. It does not walk across the floor. Hang it in a doorway, from a shelf, or anywhere with vertical clearance to get the full effect.

Is it a good gift?

Yes — a fun and slightly creepy-crawly gift for children aged 8 and up who enjoy building and robotics. The auto-reversing climbing action is satisfying to watch once assembled, and the spider aesthetic makes it a talking point. A strong gift for children who enjoy construction kits and want to build something that moves in an interesting way.
